Physical Therapy Aide (Full-time)

Department: Physical Therapy

Reports to: Director of Physical Therapy

Hours details: Full-time. 8-hour shifts range between 7am & 7pm

Job Summary

Performs patient treatments under the general and direct supervision of a Physical Therapist. This may include preparing patients and equipment; assisting therapists in selected procedures; performs appropriate housekeeping duties as assigned and other duties as needed or assigned.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Meets current SPOC standards for basic employee performance as defined by the employee handbook and department policy.

1. Accountable for assisting Physical Therapist in treatments when indicated.

  • Assists the PT in implementing the patient care program when requested.
  • Observes and reports on patient’s condition, reactions, and response to treatment to the staff PT.
  • Records notes on patient program flow sheets as requested.
  • Records signature in medical record to indicate tasks performed by PT aide at each patient visit.
  • Reports any decline in patient’s behavior or condition to the PT.
  • Follows department procedures and reports any unusual incidents to PT Director or Staff PT.
  • Seeks guidance as necessary for the performance of duties, asks appropriate questions when in doubt and communicates frequently with the therapist on issues of patient care.

2. Accountable for cooperating with other departments and therapy staff to ensure a clean, safe, orderly work area.

  • Maintains operation and cleanliness of physical therapy equipment according to safety and infection control standards.
  • Reports any defective equipment to the PT Director.
  • Maintains proper levels of supplies and equipment in designated areas.
  • Completes additional job tasks as assigned but eh PT Director. This may include bit is not limited to laundry, general and specific cleaning of the department and equipment, clerical duties.

Job Specifications

Minimum Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent. Some college or present student with goal of pursuing medical career preferred.
Minimum Experience
  • 0-1 year experience treating patients as PT Aide.

Compensation: $21-$25/hour
